The Wayne County Performing Arts Council was formed in 1982.
A need was identified by a number of people over a period of years for an organization to act as a coordinating body for performing arts activities in the Wayne County community. Concern was voiced that regular opportunities for the individual to perform did not exist and that the children of the community needed more exposure to quality performances with which they could readily identify.
The Wayne County Performing Arts Council was formed to fill these needs as well as others as they are identified and as we are able to increase our membership and financial strength. We were
incorporated through the State of Ohio in March 1982 under the name of HETUCKS HISTORICAL DRAMA SOCIETY.
We officially changed our name with the State in August 1982, to Wayne County Performing Arts Council to more accurately reflect our interest in promoting the fullest range of performing arts in the county.
