Workshop Dates
Workshop will be held this year on Saturday mornings starting September 21st and ending with our showcase on November 9th. This year each class will be 2 hours and will be 10:30-12:30. New Location – we will be at the Wayne Center for the Arts this year, 237 South Walnut St.
Cost is only $50 for the whole 8 weeks! Registration is limited and first come first serve, so after you submit your registration, if there is still room, we will email you a link where you can make your payment. Scholarships are available, directions for requests are on the registration form.
You Have Options!
Act 1 This class will be focused on all the core concepts you need to know to be comfortable and successful on stage! Movement, projection, creating your character are among the things you will learn. In addition you will get to practice your craft with scenes and improv! Whether this is your first year, or you’re a seasoned actor, there’s always more to learn and this class will help you hone your skills. Grades 6-12.
Act 2 This class will be focused on Character Development, Script Analysis, and bringing greater depth to your character. This class is for experienced actors who have attended previous years of Acting Lab or have equivalent experience and want to really study the craft.
If you think you might be interested, check the box on your Acting Lab application. Come to the first class prepared to audition with a one minute monologue. In order to get the most out of this experience enrollment will be limited. Grades 6-12.
This year we will be expanding our leadership team! You will get to see the familiar faces – Scott Mason and Kay Anderson will be leading the Act 2 class. New to Acting Lab faculty, but most certainly known and loved by all… Curt Stambaugh, Bethany Marty, and Jenny Karger will be joining our team leading Act 1!
Too Young for Acting Lab?
Wayne Center for the Arts and Magical Theatre Company have a workshop for you. FUNdamentals of Acting for ages 8-12. Have fun while developing the fundamental essentials of your acting skills. Young actors will focus on the three key skill areas for the actor: body, voice, and mind. Learn to create character through movement and speaking for the stage while expanding the imagination through creative drama and improvisation.
